The 2023/24 rates effective 1 April 2023 brought a 9.7% NLW uplift - the largest cash uplift in NMW history at the time, in response to a cost-of-living squeeze running at double-digit CPI.

Context
The 23+ NLW band still applied (the 21+ threshold did not arrive until April 2024). The LPC remit had already been adjusted toward two-thirds of median earnings.
